Plant Growth Laboratory - Miami Blvd. Site

Paradigm Genetics

Research Triangle Park, NC

While working as a tenant representative for a large scale build-to-suit project for Paradigm Genetics, the design team was commissioned to design a 20,000 square feet off-site plant research facility.  This facility needed to be completed quickly and inexpensively to allow full-scale operation to begin on several pending research contracts.  Although this facility was originally intended to be temporary, the Miami Boulevard site has become the showplace of Paradigm’s research techniques and a model for Paradigm’s future plant growth facilities.  Because of the need for this facility to be stand alone, it includes plant growth rooms, growth chambers, a plant analysis laboratory and all of the additional facilities needed to support these including soil preparation, media preparation, cell culture and microscopy labs.  A flexible engineering infrastructure was created whereby lab work stations can be easily relocated and “plugged-in” to allow for minimal downtime.
