Research Laboratory Addition

This new two-story laboratory building is a connected annex to CIIT's central lab facility. As an expansion of the biology department, this new laboratory space is to integrate with existing CIIT biological research functions while standing alone as a recruiting tool to attract the best researchers in the world. The building layout is centered around interior wet-lab spaces with surrounding exterior scientific office spaces. Utilities for the addition are provided by a central plant in a new penthouse. Redundant chillers, boilers, cooling towers and pumps, as well as an emergency generator system help safeguard critical scientific functions. The new research annex also features numerous fume hoods integrated with a common exhaust system.
