Renovation of historic facilities dictates that engineering remains sensitive to aesthetics while also assisting with the preservation of the building and its contents. Integrating current building codes, life safety standards, modern technology and highly performing engineered systems into buildings not originally constructed to accommodate such features can be a challenge.
